Hi, my name is Mason! I was born with a very rare brain disorder called Lissencephaly, it is a very big word that means “smooth brain”. Basically, something happened during pre-natal development to disrupt the normal migration of the cells to form all the little ridges and valleys of my brain. The front of my brain has some folds, but the back only has a few.
This condition greatly affects my mental and physical development. There are a lot of different types of Lissencephaly, but my type is called Isolated Lissencephaly Sequence (ILS). ILS means that I do not have any other underlying conditions except the improper brain development.
Mommy and Daddy have created this web-site to help people understand, keep friends and family updated on how I’m doing and to share my story with anyone who is interested. |

Heaven’s Very Special Child
A meeting was held quite far from earth, It’s time again for another birth. Said the angels of the Lord above, This special child will need much love His progress may seem very slow. Accomplishments he may not show. And he’ll require extra care From the folks he meets down there. He may not run or play. His thoughts may seem quite far away. In many ways he won’t adapt. And he’ll be known as handicapped. So lets be careful where he’s sent. We want his life to be content. Please Lord, find the parents who, Will do this special job for you. They will not realize right away The leading role they’re asked to play, But with this child sent from above, Comes stronger faith and richer love. And soon they’ll know the privilege given, In caring for this gift from heaven- Their precious charge, so meek and mild, Is heaven’s very special child.
