| Hi, my name is Mason! I was born with a very rare brain disorder called Lissencephaly, it is a very big word that means “smooth brain”. Basically, something happened during pre-natal development to disrupt the normal migration of the cells to form all the little ridges and valleys of my brain. The front of my brain has some folds, but the back only has a few. This condition greatly affects my mental and physical development. There are a lot of different types of Lissencephaly, but my type is called Isolated Lissencephaly Sequence (ILS). ILS means that I do not have any other underlying conditions except the improper brain development. Mommy and Daddy have created this web-site to help people understand, keep friends and family updated on how I’m doing and to share my story with anyone who is interested. |
